Let The Games Begin!
Leah | February 28, 2008 | 9:39 amToday is the day all of us Braves fans have anxiously awaited to arrive since the last game of the ‘07 season. It’s finally here! Huddy gets the start today and we get to see what the other Jones boy looks like in a Dodgers’ uni for the first of many times for at least the next two years. Here are a few comments on Andruw donning Dodger Blue:
“It’s always going to look funny,” Cox said. “[Rafael Furcal] didn’t look good in it either.”
“It will be weird to see him in a Dodgers uniform,” Francoeur said. “But I think we’ve all prepared ourselves for it. It will be fun.”

As far as I can tell from DOB’s noting, none of the starting infielders will be playing today with the exception of Mac, of course. All of the starting outfielders are supposed to be making the trip to Vero Beach with the exception of Kotsay and possibly Matty. Huddy will pitch two innings and Blaine Boyer, Chris Resop, Matt DeSalvo, and Manny Acosta will be today’s relief corp.
The game today will be specially broadcast by our own Pete Van Wieren on MLB Gameday webcast. Tomorrow’s game will actually be on TV on ESPN at 1:05 pm, so I will actually follow that game more closely than today’s or yesterday’s game.
Considering yesterday’s game vs. UGA, we did pretty well winning 8-0, but you have to figure in the college vs. major leagues ascpect. Still a nice win and shut out by lesser known, but highly viewed, Charlie Morton. Other pitchers were Zach Schreiber, Jose Campillo, Francisely Bueno, and Ryan Basner.
Also, I found this post on MLBTR and thought I should post it here. This is only the start of the rumors of where Teixeira is headed (or not headed) next year. There was an article written by Dan Connolly, a Baltimore Sun writer who believes Teixeira will go home to the Orioles and why. At least we Braves fans can say anything that’s written is probably a rumor because Teixeira has already said he wasn’t talking about his contract until after the season. MLBTR conducted a survey of teams that he could possibly go to and the Braves are right behind the Yankees in second in the survey results.
