Can we just go home now?
Leah | June 1, 2008 | 8:40 amYesterday was a horrible loss and a one-run loss at that, making that 20-straight one-run losses on the road. We haven’t won a game in extra-innings yet either. Hopefully Huddy can go out today, get a win against rookie Johnny Cueto, and stop our road woes from expanding even further.
Something I would suggest to Bobby is to swap KJ and Blanco, or something to that effect. Change the lineup around a bit, try something different. It really couldn’t hurt to try anything to get wins on the road. If I were to switch the lineup around, it would probably look something like this (nothing too dramatic, of course):
1. Blanco (or possibly even Anderson)
2. Escobar
3. Chipper
4. Teixeira
5. McCann
6. Francoeur
7. Johnson
8. Anderson (or Blanco)
9. pitcher
I know Norton has had a good bat lately, and he did do well yesterday, but why is he starting when Anderson if fully capable of picking up the slack in LF? I guess Bobby’s thinking is that Norton has more power than Anderson and is trying to make up for the loss of Matty in the lineup. But still, Norton isn’t a starting OF, he’s supposed to be a power-hitter off the bench, so why not let Anderson have shot at this job to see what he can do? And Infante is not that comfortable/experienced in playing the OF, which is why Norton has been starting lately instead. Put Anderson out there, maybe good things will happen. Just a suggestion. Nothing we could try could possibly hurt us with the way things are going for us right now, so what the heck?
